I’m having a not very stellar time in brain land right now and kylux may not have the most comforting tropes traditionally speaking, but here’s some fics from the softer side that I like to read when I’m having a sad

(Most of this is h/c and touch starvation stuff. Lots of angst with a happy ending and graphic descriptions of caregiving. So ymmv because I know I have weird tastes in what I find comforting lmao. Okay guys this is THE touch-starved Kylo fic. Like if you’re into that at all and you haven’t read this yet, please stop right now and do yourself a favour and read this instead. I’ve probably read it north of 10 times and I know it’s an older fic, but it still surprises me that I’ve never seen it on a rec list before. Seriously, read it. Beautifully in character and though it’s definitely cannoli kylux, it still does the trick for me every time

Seriously, literally all of their fics hit that spot I need when I’m sad. Some of the softest kylux around and yet they always feel fully in character. If you’re having a bad day and you have the time, just read them all, you won’t regret it. For a specific rec, try:

Hux deals with the aftermath as best he can. He doesn’t understand. But perhaps he will.

Heartbreakingly beautiful. Starts out incredibly sad, but ends on such a great note that it always leaves me feeling better. Some of the things thought/said feel like they came right out of the darkest recesses of my brain. This fic is the written form of one of those rare cleansing crying sessions that actually make you feel better after

There’s a small shop in Brighton that basically only sells stuffed animals, in tons of varieties, and it’s really crammed full. And it’s where Kylo works, he’s ended up in Brighton, because it’s got sea and sand and a very vibrant gay scene and he figures it’s the last place his Father is going to track him down, because of all the hills. And he’s working in this little shop, he has to duck to get through the door, and he always hits his head on the stuffed animals that hang from the ceiling.

Hux comes in to buy a present for a godchild he’s ‘obtained’ from ‘an old friend’ and he recognises Kylo from one of the clubs, they’d ended up snogging at 4am in a dark corner, both absolutely wrecked on ridiculous drinks served by bartenders in very small shorts. And they’re dripping with sweat from the hot club and the lights and the music is swelling through the floor.

I don’t really have any ones I’ve read… So I wrote one! Hope you’re feeling better soon hun! 

It doesn’t have a title, but I’m thinking of one… I’m just terrible. And it’s fluffy!

The first time Hux sees Kylo without the helmet the knight is flushed and sweat soaked, tipping water over his head and shaking the drips from his hair like an animal. Hux notices the sheen on his hair as Kylo pulls his undershirt off and scrubs at his face with it, the way it catches the light in the training room. When their eyes meet Hux feels the flush start to creep up his neck and grunts out a noise that could be a moan but he will argue is “Ren” to anyone who asks.
