Modern benarmie au in which Armie is on a road trip to scatter his father’s ashes, a condition of the will. He hates everything about this, and in a fit of pique he picks up Ben, a hitchhiker, who is much bigger than he is and looks dangerous. When Ben hears what Armie is doing, he asks, “Did you kill him?” Armie says no, then adds with a laugh that he almost wishes he had. Ben responds after a pause, “I killed my father,” and Armie starts to wonder if he’s made a terrible mistake. But by this point he’s oddly attracted to this sullen, sharp-witted boy, and despite himself he wants to see how this whole thing will turn out.
