So waaay back in March or so of 2016, I was in a kylux skype chat talking about that one bdsm test and my results were basically switch, voyeur, and “rope bunny.” It was late at night and for some reason this was absolutely hysterical to me.

The man, Kylo Ren, unfurled himself from his office chair and stood to shake Hux’s outstretched hand. Hux focused on keeping his expression neutral, faced with the impressive height and bulk of the man in front of him. He could already feel that terrible, horrible, no good, very bad part of himself perk up at the tableau before him: the man was wearing slacks with no creases, a wrinkled button down with the top few buttons undone, and no tie. His eyes were dark, his features were oddly proportioned, and his hands were enormous.

Ya’ll this fic is so good I just read it and it pains me that I went without it for like. More than a year. It’s not fair. Do yourselves a favor.
These two images are clearly connected; they are visual reflections of each other. However, the differences are interesting to consider.
Rey is associated with nature (& its raw power) and Kylo with industrialisation/machinations of war. Rey: water – life, stone – stability; Kylo: mirror-like surfaces – deceit, durasteel, duraplast, etc – all man-made. There’s nothing separating Rey from her path forward, but Kylo is behind a solid (albeit transparent) barrier.
Also, space opens up for Rey but it encloses Kylo. The camera is directly behind Rey, which emphasizes that she’s facing the power she sees before her straightforwardly. Kylo, we see from an off-center angle, which makes him seem more pensive? Troubled? Unsure about his connection to what he’s regarding? His stance is firm, though, and his reflection is clear. He thinks he knows where he stands.
Their arm positions: Rey’s arms are relaxed and down at her sides. She’s open to the path in front of her. Kylo’s hands are clasped in front of him, guarding/enclosing himself.
There is a clear focal point for Rey – the horizon. Kylo only has a confused, semi-obstructed visual field. She knows where she’s going. He only thinks he does – but there’s actually no destination in his view; only an enclosed storage place. A dead end.
Interestingly, the light source for both is in front on them.
Talked a lot about Hux being declared dead in absentia after the destruction of the Finalizer lately, so here he is, presumed dead but having in fact managed to escape at the last second, badly burned and probably working 2 illegal jobs in some random city on some shady moon.
If a certain someone is making regular and mysterious trips to this system, nobody has to know.
