All I can think about is that interview with Domnhall Gleeson where he’s talking about this viciousness that General Hux has and how he’d fight dirty if put to it. But his entire appearance and demeanor in the film is so immaculately put together, that you can barely picture him getting his hands dirty. And then you have those couple of lines in movie novelization where Hux demands biological proof of the traitors’ demise, preferably a couple of heads on his desk. And how it unnerves the people following his orders.
Just imagine, if you will, Ren encountering this viciousness but not quite expecting it. At first thinking its for show or posturing, but then realizing Hux is cut from a very similar cloth to himself, loathe as he is to admit it. (Though Ren’s deal is more pure rage.) Imagine him being impressed, because he never thought Hux had it in him.
I love the idea of this kind of proper, militaristic man whose bloodlust is bursting the seams of that perfectly pressed uniform.
Imagine Ren being all too happy to indulge his call for ‘biological proof.’ I can just see Ren collecting the heads of their enemies, and dropping them on Hux’s desk like a cat leaving a particularly gruesome gift. And Hux, rather than being pissed that there’s semi-charred flesh all over his paperwork, is impressed. (Though he’d rather chew his own hands off than admit it.)
Since they’re not nice people, I kind of like the idea of their relationship being based on this mutual ferocity and viciousness.
I also like to imagine that Hux had a few ‘incidents’ in his rise to power, being underestimated by people vying for the same position and them sincerely regretting it. I’m picturing a kind of Hannibal Lecter quality in him.
(Also Domnhall Gleeson just suits being covered in blood, its a good look for him.)
Someone tell me if I’m getting ooc with all this.
